Yamada Ryosuke. A man a bit too short for his age and a face that doesn't seem to match his gender either. Despite being so small, he is full of energy. He knows how to brighten the atmosphere and raise everyone's morale. He may not be the best or most skilled, his courage and determination are unmatched. Even using unorthodox ways, he seems to get the job done. He can bring sunshine to anyone, anywhere. He hates being the one to shine alone. Even if he is the most optimistic person out there, his words can cut sharp like a blade. But that's what makes Yamada Ryosuke lovable by anyone.
In all his life, he has never really been keen or interested in someone. He's had a few boyfriends and girlfriends there but none of them really stood out to him. Not until he had met this man Nakajima Yuto. He was handsome and tall. He seems to be likable by any age. He was kind and understanding too. But one thing about him bothered Yamada. He seemed a bit lonely. He looked like he had a lot of friends, but it seems like no of them were close. He seemed like a lone wolf. Maybe because of this, he somewhat felt interested --maybe attracted-- to him. He wanted to bring color to his life, even if it's just a little bit.
Yuto just agreed that they would have dinner together and Yamada made a small victory pose, signaling his first achievement. He promised himself that he was going to get close to this man and open his heart a little and maybe they could start with food.
"Come on, let's go!", saying this a bit excitedly.
Yuto sighed and chuckled a bit, "I know, I know. I'm just cleaning a bit."
They headed to the elevator together and talked about various things, well Yuto mostly. Yamada was thinking of what could make Yuto laugh. He crept up to the man slowly and tried tickling his sides. Yuto shrieked a bit and backed away. He immediately got worried that he would be scolded at.
"W-what was that for...?"
"I-I just wanted to hear you laugh..."
Yuto paused a bit, looking away. Then he threw himself into a fit of laughter.
"By tickling me? Not at least a joke or a gag?!" He just kept laughing loudly. Yamada was confused over how hard he was laughing so hard over such a trivial matter. Nonetheless, he was pleased with himself, making Yuto laugh this hard.
"I get it, I get it!" He pouted. "Stop laughing at my failure already!"
"I'm sorry, I just... I haven't laughed in so long, it just came out."
"If you won't stop, I'll kiss you!"
Yuto blinked then laughed a bit. "You're just joking, right?"
No, not really. If he was given the option to, he'd kiss him, definitely. But he doesn't think it'd be a great idea to kiss someone he just met a few hours ago.
"Forget it! I'm hungry, let's eat already."
When they finally had chosen a restaurant and went to eat, Yamada blabbered all about himself, talking about his old work and co-workers and how scary they all were. They liked to tease him and he was usually looked down upon for his informal appearance and overly excited state. Yuto was staring right at him, listening earnestly. Yamada finally met his gaze and immediately shied away from his stare. Yuto chuckled and he swore he called him cute again. Not that he doesn't like it.
A while passes and he continues on about himself, talking about how much he despises natto, frogs and haunted houses. He rants about how many times he has been forced on a roller coaster and cried while riding it. Yuto couldn't help but laugh at his variety of stories. Yamada's heart beats a little faster because of Yuto's charming smile. He wished that he smiled like this more often, a genuine one, he means. He wants to see Yuto's smile more, so continues talking rather than eating his food that's gone cold.
"Aren't you going to eat soon? Your food is getting cold." Uh-oh, busted.
"A-ah, yeah, right!" Embarrassedly he eats his ramen quickly, trying to cover up his hidden motive why he ate so slowly. Yuto probably didn't realize it so he just laughed it off.
Later on that night, they strolled for a while downtown, window shopping and looking at various clothing stores. It was as if they were old friends, trying to catch up on their lives but a matter of fact, they were just strangers a while ago. While they were walking around, Yuto talked about his hobbies. Yamada learned that he was a photographer and immediately spout out, "Can you take pictures of me? Please?" Yuto, being the nice and courteous guy he is couldn't refuse.
"Why wouldn't I take pictures of someone as cute as you? A good background should be nice too..."
There he goes again. Cute. It's killing him inside but Yamada plays it off with, "I know that I'm cute~. You don't need to tell me that." Yuto gives that beautiful smile again. Yamada wants more but he doesn't know what else he can do.
Mustering up courage, he mutters, "Hey, can we exchange phone numbers?"
Yuto agrees without hesitation this time, "Sure. Why not? We can do this together again."
"How about we go home together too?"
This time, Yuto blinks and pauses. "Do we live in the same place?"
"We've been walking the same direction for the past few minutes, I think we both know that this is our own direction home. Maybe we do live in the same direction after all! What a coincidence."
So they did end up going home the same way. Yamada talked about hobbies too, with Yuto not giving any sense of being surprised. "So you're actually girly? Well not to judge, but your appearance goes with it too. You can both look cool and cute, can you? You're pretty well-rounded." Yamada constantly receives praises but praises from Yuto were like blessings to him. He was someone he admired and looked up to, yet he's being praised by that same man. It makes his heart race a little bit too, making his face flush due to the incessant praises.
"You're too kind. Are you really this flattering?"
"Maybe because it's you. I don't really know, I don't praise people this much."
Yamada felt a small tinge of happiness that he was the only one being treated like this. He may be just a stranger hours ago, but they undeniably clicked and created a spark between them. Maybe this is it, Yamada thought, but it was too early to decide that.
But he was definitely sure that he was going to fall for this man. Hard.
NOTES: My computer crashed and I lost this whole chapter. I don't know why LJ didn't get to autosave either. Kinda sad that my hard work was lost but oh well :( There may be parts I might have forgotten so I'm sorry. Thank you again!
